A Bunch of Junk
This little guy is 7 months old today. Cute, huh?
On other news, there is a blog that I sometimes, ok, always read that usually makes me feel bad about myself. I hate that! It's not because the blogger is a mean or nasty person in any way, but because she appears to be so much better at EVERYTHING than I am. I read what she posts, and I feel uncreative, lazy and sure that I am a bad mother in comparison to everything that she is and does. I feel like I should put a band-aid on my ego and get over it, but I think I might just have to stop reading about her perfect life! Fortunately this is someone that I do not know extremely well, has no idea that I have unintentionally idolized her and certainly would not call her life perfect. *Sigh*
Finally, I have hit the summer slump where I no longer feel like putting energy into activities or outings. I think I might take this person's advice and limit video games to one day a week. I love tips from other moms. Thanks, Erin. If anyone has more advice on how to put spark back into the endless summer days, feel free to leave a comment. I could use it!

What a cutie! I can't believe he is 7 months old - aaahh!!
One of my wonderful twin mom friends is a stay at home mom to 5 children - the twins are her youngest. During the summer she does theme weeks. She lets each of the big kids pick a theme and she fills in the rest with her own ideas. They have done pirate week, dragon week, bug week, etc. She takes them to the library to get books on the subject and they do craft projects, make snacks, or play games geared toward the theme. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular - you can put as much effort into it as you want - but I always thought it was a really fun idea and something to keep the kids occupied and learning during the summer. Good luck!
