Today Ethan was getting ready for church and he asked me for help with his belt. Boy, am I glad he did, because it brought something to my attention. We now have a new rule in our home:
Isn't it amazing what boys will do that you are not aware of. My older boys had been taking showers for several years and I would occasionally ask them if they washed their whole bodies. They would say yes.
Then it occurred to me one day to be more specific and I started asking if they had washed specific body parts. Low and behold they were missing some pretty important areas! I am still learning how specific you have to be some times.
I know someday a daughter and law will ask me why my son does this or that and I'm just going to have to shrug and say, "I don't know what to tell you except I tried."
