We took a long Sunday drive up in the mountains today. Andrew has a customer that needs to replace the cabinets in her cabin's kitchen and bath, so she gave Andrew the key and paid him to go up and make sure the measurements were all correct. The cabin was just a little ways past Mirror Lake, and it was a beautiful drive! We even drove through a snow storm at the peak of the mountain. We weren't sure what to expect when we got to the cabin, but I have to say that after seeing it, I would be perfectly happy to live the rest of my life there. Even the boys said it was an awesome house and asked why we couldn't stay there forever. A bear was spotted there a week ago, according to the guest journal, so I let my imagination wander and pictured my kids playing outside whilst a bear meandered into the yard... Couldn't decide at the time if I liked that or not. (They had asked "Are we there yet?" one too many times on the way up.) So here are a few pictures of the house I will forever lust after...
This is the deck that is attached to the side porch. The creek goes underneath it... So peaceful.
Living room fireplace. Can you just imagine all the cozy nights watching movies or chatting with family or roasting marshmallows...
Steps in the back of the house leading to the fire pit. Sweet.
View from the living room. (This is where the envy really took hold of my heart and surely will condemn me.)
Andrew trying to figure out the best layout for the new kitchen.
Cute little window looking into one of the upstairs bedrooms from the open loft hallway.
Drew loved the little wooden games that were nailed to the windowsills of the kiddie loft. What a great idea!
Ethan and Drew wishing this were the upstairs of our house.
After I swoon over the memory of this place for a while longer, I may need to go repent for my covetousness. And possibly look that up to see if it is a real word.

In case anyone was wondering why we snooped through the house and let our kids play with the toys upstairs...we were given the go ahead to do that. If not, we would have kept them in the car where any sane cabin owner would want them.
what a great place! I'm envious right along with you!
Stunning! Hey - if there was a guest log, it's possible that they rent it out when they are not there. Might be worth looking into! (then call me when you book it so we can come down too!) :)
