We got a DVR a year and a half ago, and while Lost is on, it is my favorite invention in the world, after Jalepeno Poppers. (Remind me to tell you sometime how NOT to eat one of those, by the way.) During the summer months, I watch almost no TV. I listen to more than my share of The Backyardigans, but not by choice. So over the summer months when nothing is on, and the only time the grown-up people in our house watch the television is when there is a movie in the DVD player, the DVR becomes quite full of recordings that never really get played. Here's a run-down of what is taking up 75% of my available memory on the DVR: (please don't judge)
G2 Fishing Frenzy
Max and Ruby
How Clean Is Your House (compelling show that takes you inside the homes of the filthiest residents of the United Kingdom and exposes their worst habits and literally all their dirty laundry before two classy dames intervene and teach the culprits how to scrub a toilet and clean out their refrigerators. Drew loves to watch the first 5 minutes of this show standing 2 feet from the TV and screaming "EEEWWWW!!!" every time another disgusting corner of the home is revealed. I can't eat while this show is on, but that's ok, because I usually just turn it on for a few minutes when I need some serious motivation to go wipe down the fronts of my appliances.)
Ben 10
Lost (Yes, I've seen them all, but when I need to fold the laundry, I turn on an episode of Lost and, having seen it before, can follow the show without having to actually look at the TV, and it's nice entertainment to get me through the monstrous pile of clothes on the couch.)
Gilmore Girls (Cameron and Ethan try not to let me see them singing the theme song, but they can't help themselves.)
House Hunters International
Teen Titans
The Backyardigans
My First Place
Sesame Street
Multiple College Football Games (Yes, it is that dreaded time of year again.)
Ben 10: Alien Force
America's Funniest Home Videos (Bob Saget makes me want to jump off a tall building. This is strictly for the kids.)
The Sound of Music
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
The Office
Bones
In-Fisherman (Gag)
Burn Notice
Antz
DEA
The Nanny (Recorded for Gabbi when she and Zach stayed here for a few days, and sadly, never deleted. Glad for David and Marcy that kids go through phases, cause if Gabbi liked that show forever, there would need to be inquiries into mental hospitals, I'm sure.)
Alien vs. Predator (again, for the kids)
Wedding Crashers (recorded thinking it might be good, but have never bothered to watch it.)
Cars
Dave (wow. Boring.)
Legally Blonde
CSI: NY
The Suite Life on Deck (How in the world did that get there? Gabbi again?)
Beetlejuice
Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Something
Role Model: Gene Wilder (Hmm. Still need to watch that.)
The 39 Steps (I think a movie I recorded ages ago and never got to. Don't remember what it's about.)
Vertigo (Huge Hitchcock fan, but have never seen this one. Hypocrite.)
Rear Window (Death will find whomever deletes this.)
Home Team (Drew must have gotten the remote.)
Narnia, Prince Caspian
The Land Before Time
Kung Fu Panda
Stardust
Sleepy Hollow
The Happening
Flowers in the Attic (If you haven't seen this, then you are truly missing out on a great opportunity to be fantastically disturbed. I hear the book is pretty graphic, though.)
Return to Neverland
Hoodwinked!
Spy Kids 3: Game Over
Crash (Not the new one with Sandra Bullock, I think this is an old movie about a married couple who enjoy being in auto accidents. Not sure though.)
That 70's Show (DVR has a mind of it's own.)
In the Line of Fire (forgot that was there! never finished it!)
Chicago
Forensic Files (What is going on here?)
Minority Report
So. Now I get to go through and delete all this junk so that there's adequate room to record every NFL game that Andrew can find in the next 6 MONTHS, because he just called me with what he said was really good news! Football season officially starts tonight!!! Yey. I can hardly contain my excitement. Now, when the final season of Lost begins early next year, then we can celebrate some good TV.

sorry the suite life is my kids! : )
And thanks btw- Burn Notice is one of my favorite shows now.
It's kinda scary how many shows our DVR's have in common. Once, Katie and I were eating lunch and absent-mindedly started watching How Clean is Your House. HUGE mistake!! Yes, I will admit it, I have seen every episode of Gilmore Girls they ever made. And my kids also watch AFV religiously, and I spend almost every day trying to come up with new reasons why I can't come "just record what so and so is doing so we can send it to American's Most Funniest Videos!" I could go on and on...
Our DVR's have a few things in common, but mine is mostly filled with things from Noggin or Sprout - for those times I am desperate to entertain my boys in the early morning hours so I can half-way sleep on the couch.
Like 18 episodes of Jack's Big Music Show.
10 episodes of Sesame Street.
8 episodes of Barney (yes, Barney. *shudder*)
Happy Feet
Ratatouille (okay, that one's for me)
I also can't wait for Lost to start again, but I have to admit, there is something divinely relaxing about watching/snoozing through a football game on a Sunday afternoon while dinner simmers away in the crockpot. Yeah, I love fall. :)
Oh, and you really need to watch Vertigo - one of Hitchcock's best. Didn't you take Ms. Bryan's Film Study class???
DVR....? Ok, I have not melded into the 21st century! but then maybe my husband would not have had us up at 6am on a sunday morning to head home "just to be ready for the week". Only to find he is GLUED to the TV surfing every NFL channel he can find. OH joy....it's offical football season!....maybe I do need one of those DVR thingums.....hum....I think that would be a great Christmas gift for the husband....ta ta ta daaaaa (that is the football theme I just heard blarrrrring from the TV room....) I have escaped to the computer for my Bethany's brain fix, to pay the bills as the 11th was pay day and to get my fix of a game of free cell....Tim on the other hand thinks since it is so nice and cool out that I should want to garden/weed if I'm not going to football church for the next 6 hours! I think I'd rather go visit my dear friend who's 55 year old husband just dropped dead on the 10th.....but I digress. I think we need a DVR.
Happy fall!
